Water cooling tips :)

And that's with the HAF-X sli cooler with a dedicated fan. I tried swapping the cards and it's the same. On my motherboard there's literally no space between them. I have no idea what the temps will climb to as I switch off kombuster when it reaches 100c. Imagine if I ran furmark :/

The problem now is that I can't imagine another brand of 480 making that much difference in the cards. I've seen people running 3-way SLI without the dedicated sli cooling duct and with a lesser case than a haf-x. I can't understand why the temps are so high. Maybe I'm not going to be able to run SLI? I send an email explaining that I will be returning the cards, but have asked about postage costs as I don't think it's right that I get charged for their incorrect advertising, so I expect them to pay even though the cards are not faulty.

You shouldnt have to pay for postage. Just say to them it was misadvertised and does not comply with the sale of goods act 1979 and make sure you dont tell them you used it!!
Threaten legal action in a small claims court and also say u will contact trading standards.

Okay I will of they complain. I managed to sort the temps out a little, I was running furmark and kombustor ok but still reached 100 quite easily in heaven. I've moved the second card to the 8x slot now and the temps are fine, but I'm not sure how it will hinder performance. And even if it doesn't, I had to remove my front usbs and power/reset button lol.

I'm running on air at the moment, that's why I'm sending these back because I wanted the reference pcb to fit water cooling blocks. These cost me £400 together, but I'm just going to switch to a 6990 I think for the extra 100.

As for the rads on the haf x, I saw some good ideas while browsing the net. The 360 rad fits best at the top. If you want another 240 also internal, I saw an awesome mod where the guy basically removed the hdd brackets from the bottom of the case and fitted the 240 rad in there. If he only has one or two hdds then he can still use the hot swap bays, otherwise they can be removed an a multiple hdd cube can be put there (don't know the proper name, it was like a square bracket that allowed 3 hdds inside and two on the outside.

The whole thing looks awesome tbh. Search HAF X Red Star on google if you want to see the guys build log.
