Hi. I am going to make the move to WC, but need some advice. Basically, Kit or Components route? Also, Should i just stick to my Processor. Thanks :)

Parts bought individually are a better route but Swiftech do have some good kits.

Are you watercooling for silence or for overclocking?

Hi. Here are my specs. Not sure if you meant full or not.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Toledo)
DFI nF3 Ultra-D
Hiper Type R 480w
XFX Nvidia GeFORCE 6600GT
OCZ Platinum DDR400 1Gig Pair
Freezer 64Pro
Seagate Barracuda 160Gig SATA2
Creative Audigy 2 ZS

Hi. The 6600GT is going. I am considering a pci express mobo upgrade. Was going to get a 7900 series card, but not sure at the mo.

To make things easy for your first wc i'd say go for a 120.2 Swiftech kit; these include good quality parts and will last upgrades and so forth.

Hi,

how many componants you wanting to watercool?

Thanks guys:) My main objective is towards the Cpu's. I would like to include the Gpu, but i am unsure, if this is a wise consideration ;)

Hi. Gashman, picking up on your point about my 6600GT. How much is it impacting on performance, do you think?

Reason i ask is because, i have never included the Graphics as part of an overclock equation. Would wc help?

I've ordered a kit, but i would have something to experiment with once i have gone to AM2. Time to upgrade at some point soon.

WCing the GPU is very easy and as well as giving the option of OCing the GPU, it will cut down on noise, many GFX cards fans are very noisy.

Have to agree here. Cutting down on noise is a major factor in W/C your PC, and it would be a shame to miss out on your GPU in setting up a decent loop.

The Swiftech Cpu kit is on it's way, but have found out that the res is not adequate. Won't trap any bubbles that well apparently. Maybe i should have gone the component route!! I think i will WC the GPU as well. (Arthalen read for thread with interest, gave me some pointers ;) )

A couple of questions. There was no mention of the neoprene you need. If the pump does not come with it, do i get some from a building supplier? Second, my case has a top window. I plan to mount the rad here. Would it be a good idea to get a perspex sheet cut, and mount the rad on top? I think i will have to strenghen the top.

I'm keen on modding my case, Never have done before. (apologies if this is construed as being offtopic) I want to try before i upgrade to AM2 and chop up a decent case.

.

The Res is perfectly fine with that kit, you can even get away without a Res and just use a fill-port.
I have that kit and the Res is great for collecting the air you will see the first time you run it.
What neoprene do you mean? if you mean the stuff that goes with the pump to dampen the noise then it is included. The Swiftech kits come with everything you need to mount it on any CPU.
Mine cools CPU ([email protected]) and GPU (7800gtx at 525/1.37).

Thanks. The neoprene around the socket, i was thinking of. Don't you add some as well?

Kit arrives tomorrow. I take it, the mobo is removed from the tray?

i think you only need neoprene for phase, i've been H2o for years and never used it

good luck with it!

edit asap ;)
