interesting to say the least.

Nasa's Phoenix lander spacecraft has for the first time identified water in a sample of soil collected from the planet's surface.

Scientists will now be able to begin studying the sample to see whether the planet was ever, or is, habitable.
This is the first time Martian water has been touched and tasted

discuss :)

Personally in awe of it, its prob not a big thing to most people, but water, the most unique of compounds previously only found on earth, has now been found on another planet? Very encouraging, damn good going for our 1st stop on humanities exploration to find water. :)

If you know your space science, ok 'ice comets' are one thing, but another planet containing it is another.

Some people would say the ruddy great ice caps were a dead giveaway that water ice would be found in the topsoil.

Now if ammonia had been detected that would be a big story.
