Cumbrian tap water for the win :D

At this time of year it’s even chilled from the tap!

If I lived in a city with a ***** water supply I’d consider something similar as I love water.

People pay for bottled water too you know... crazy, eh?

I do love my water and ice dispenser on my big american fridge/freezer. It's actually far too big for my tiny kitchen, but I had to have one!

Of sorts. But it is never called 'filtered water' is it, it's called 'tap water'. That's because it's not the same as what is being discussed here.

Not of sorts. It's filtered. End of.

It goes through a multi-stage process removing particulates down to sizes as 0.1 microns.

It basically is the same thing though... its just water!

If you need it boiling then there is a much cheaper and solution available called a kettle.

I'd get a filter if I lived somewhere like Spain or Greece perhaps, but in the UK we've got water companies with the ability to pipe decent, drinkable water straight to our taps.

No it is 'of sorts'.

Pedantry has its place but not when in common parlance tap water =/= filtered water; the latter comes out of a jug/inbuilt filter.

It's not of sorts at all. It's passed through multiple stages of filtration. In short you're talking bull crap.

We have water that meets the highest quality standards in the world I believe in terms of purity for human consumption.

You are either dense or intentionally trolling.

If someone asks for filtered water, they are not asking for tap water. They are asking for water that has been filtered by an additional process after having left the mains feed into your house.

So how many filtration processes must water go through to meet your magical definition? 7 times isnt filtered but 8 is? 12 no, 13 yes?
Or are you, like many, ignorant of the process of water treatment and buy in to the myth that putting it through a box when it enters your house suddenly turns what is apparently a toxic sludge in to drinkable water?

Yeah I use one in Cyprus, the state of the kettle before buying a britta one was groce. I'm talking two months before the kettle was killed (leaking because of the limescale).

The water, tea, coffee tastes so much nicer since I changed to filter. Probably won't bother in the UK though, depending where I move back to.

In most parts of the UK I'd challenge anyone to tell the difference in a blind test between filtered straight from the tap and filtered from a jug.

I get that some people would rather pass their tap water through carbon again before drinking it, even if I don't personally bother. The problem is that many people leave the filter far too long before changing it and leave the jug far too long before washing it, making it more unhygienic than getting a clean glass and filling it straight from the tap.

Replacing it often is fairly expensive, not to mention a dedicated machine for it with a monthly fee.

People that can't stand a discussion will of course say each to their own, live and let live, etc., but this is a valid discussion.

Wanna know a secret? Most UK water providers use carbon filtration.

You're making assumptions yet again.

I have not once said tap water isn't filtered. Of course it has to be and treated with countless chemicals, that's rather too obvious to need stating, but you've been stating it repeatedly anyway. What I have said is that tap water is not called filtered water, it is called tap water. The difference between them may be hard for you to tell, but it is not for others, hence the posts about purchasing standalone water filters right here in this thread.

FYI I drink tap water. I have yet to see sufficient evidence to justify filtering tap water where I live ;)

It’s the principle of the water going through a load of old pipes and into a glass that people don’t like the thought of. My taps spew out some right gunk unless I let them run for 30 seconds or so!

Sparkling water with a meal for me plz.

It depends on your area and house really. I’ve been putting tap water into my coffee machine since 2007 and the tube where the water goes up is still clear with no lime scale or dirt. 11 years!

I happily drink the tap water straight up.
