water stain on the ceiling.

so, we had a new bathroom put in after it leaked. we sprayed the ceiling with Zinsser stain blocker, 4 coats, then johnstones matt emulsion.

4 months later, the stain has reappeared. Plumber has checked, its bone dry plumbing wise.

So folks...how do I block the stain from reappearing.

When I had a leak from the shower through to the ceiling below I had good results with Polycell stain stop. 2 coats of that (despite what it says on the tin!) and 1 matt emulsion covered it permanently, although the stain wasn't massive. Maybe 10cm*50cm

I used a spray that worked well, but it stank out the house for a few days. Jenolite stainblocker is what I used. Only one coat and its still good.

Make sure it's oil or shellac based not water based, otherwise it will poke back through.
