Water temps

Right, ordered some varder fans & going to get the dremmel out tonight & modify the front bracket so the front rad sits further forward so I can fit the full height radiator in & have push fans attached.

Good choice in fans, this should help.

I'm looking forward to hearing the results.

I dont know who would want to run their fans so high, I had a 1080ti and ryzen 1700 both oc-d with one 560 rad and fans @ 480rpm water got up to 42 degrees, and I do not want to run them any faster since I dont want to hear the fans or the pump wich is D5 vario at setting 2 since 3 is clearly audible.

I picked up a half height radiator over the weekend, which do you think would be the best to use? a 30mm thick or 60mm? Both are 240mm in length
Would the 60mm one offer too much resistance for the fans to blow through? on a low/meduim speed?

It all depends on the FPI (Fins Per Inch) as ideally you want to match that with the appropriate fans, as the lower the number the more optimized it is for slower spining fans and the reverse it also true.

60mm in theory should give better performance as it has a bit more surface area, which is also the reason people recommend longer rads over thicker ones. What rad was it you picked up?

It was an RS240, from the MM. Originally I picked it up because the 60mm wouldn't fit with fans blowing out the case but I've since removed the brackets at the front of the case so the 60mm rad will sit further forward.
Ther 60mm rad is an XSPC, but I can't remember which model it is as I purchased it from a friend a couple of years ago.

Tried it last night with the Corsair fans blowing out & initially the temps seemed better, water idling around 25c but after 30 mins of running Prey temps weere back up to around 35c (GPU 45c CPU 58c) Room temp is around 22-24c BTW

My Varders fans arrive today though so am going to try them first. Just can't figure out why water is as warm as it is though, flow seems good, radiators, blocks etc were cleaned out before rebuilding the loop the other week.
Also going to change the rear 120mm intake to a 140mm fan which I have spare, just to bring a little more air into the case.

Update.
Varders fitted (2x120mm front & 2x 140mm roof all as exhaust) & no real change in temps. Gaming water still hits 38-39c with fans running around 50-60%
rear intake is a 140mm alpenfohn wing boost 2 running at 70% Any higher than these setting the fans become quite noisey & really at those speeds they should be providing adequate cooling.
Also reapplied thermal paste, but that was never an issue as CPU rarely exceeds 60c

Out of ideas & having spent over £100 on various fans in the past week I'm giving up & will just put up with it for now.
