OK, I'm looking to buy a new CPU water block

In the running are below:

Swiftech Apogee GT
Swiftech Apogee GTX Cu
D-tek Fuzion
EK Supreme

All we be 3/8" fitting which is the best?

Cheers

DeadMan

D-tek or EK.

The gtx is a good performer if you bow the base but the top is plated aluminium which has caused a few peiople some problems. You can get a replacement top for £20(copper) but that takes the coost over £60 which is silly imo.

Forget about the GT.

D-Tek proven pedigree. An excellent performing block.

EK supreme unsure of this blocks performance, although EK does have history of producing good blocks.

I have seen a few threads on other forums stating the current best performing setup is DDC with EK supreme but was wondering if this really was the consensus.

This forum normally goes for the D-tek!

Thats why im stuck :)

I understand you dilemma.

Without being biased towards the EK as i use D-Tek, i don't believe the hype until actual proven evidence is available from renown sources. The data including the variables and testbeds are comparative with other testers. Unbiased decisions are more favorable.

Mr WJA96 tested the FuZion, EK Supreme and the GTX (and some other German block) at the w-end and his preliminary results seem to be that the EK was the best.

Still waiting for his official results post tho.

Thanks for the info chaps, does make very interesting reading indeed, considering I have a PC-70 / Thermochill PA120.3 in top with a Laing D5 on the way.. hopefully :)

Yip that is/was Mr WJA96 test bed for the individual block tests. Most favorable results for your set up

Snip: I have the huge advantage of having an air-conditioned home office that runs at a very stable 18C summer and winter with very low humidity.

My preferred test rig comprises;

Laing DDC2 with Alphacool top and reservoir
Thermochill PA120.3
Choice of CPU block
1/2" R3400 Tygon tubing

The other option is to use a Lian Li G70 with a PA120.3 in the roof, but with a Laing D5 as that would allow me to vary the flow rate of water through the system, which might also very useful to know as the different blocks might respond better to different flow rates?

Although you will need to take your ambient room temps into consideration as Mr WJ's room temp was a controlled variable (air conditioned set at 18c) Although with test variants commonly reported between 18c-23c
