Right I want to go sandy

got a heatkiller rev 3 775 cpu block on atm, anyway to convert to 1155 layout?

or will I just need a new block?

will the 1156 block work in the heatkiller range?

ta:)

edit: can I use this?

Not sure about your current on, someone else will have to answer that one.

But any block that is compatable with 1156 will also be compatable with 1155, as its the same size fitting, just 1 less pin on the socket/cpu.

I think the sandy bridge socket has the same dimentions as the Socket LGA1156 so you maybe should try to hunt down a standard 775 to LGA1156 conversion kit for your cpu block.

good to know Biffa

so you unscrew the allen key bolts on the bottom then it comes apart and you insert the new retaining plate which keys in with a few pins?

correct you do unscrew the allen bolts, the block base comes apart and there are 4 pins holding the mounting system in place, it's pretty simple.

the pins fall out?!

have to say, the old 'X' style on bracket looks better IMO

But just glad I won't have to shell £40 on a new CPU block:)

well done HK

They are held in loosely.

After removing base plate and internal spray plate (pins removed from top bracket)

After fitting new bracket but before refitting other bits.

Be careful you don't lose any orings and that you get them back in their seating grooves before tightening it all down.

argh well I put the conversion mounting plate on just fine but it collides with the VRM cooler heatsinks on my newly purchased P8P67 Deluxe from Asus:(

I've had to order a new heatkiller instead:(

Ahh thats pretty crap then! I'm looking into the possibility of upgrading and have been looking at my options for reusing my Heatkiller. Seen some official mounting plates for the 1155 but ive only seen them for sale in the US.

ive found that the dtec fuzion v2 with the socket 775 mounting kit fits the gigabyte ga z68x ud3p b3 revsion went and orderd a new block becuase i though it wouldn't fit it does
