Watercooling Advice

The pump is the best there is. I would probably get another metre of tubing though if I were you as 6ft, while adequate does not give much, if any, room for error when cutting. For the sake of £2.34 you will save yourself some headaches later should you mis cut.

Hi w3bbo, I hope so for 75 quid!!, im going to order 2 (as per basket above) 2 metre's worth ;)

Im just looking around the web for watercooling mods on the Stacker 832 to see where i can mount the rad, the top of the case is looing favorite atm :) So going to be modding and watercooling both for the first time!

This is what it looks like bare..The hole in the top is to take a 'Raptor' HDD, but ive no intention of installing one, so am going to mod that space to fit the rad. But not sure whether to push the air down into the case or up out of the case?

Really???!?!?!

ocuk too? Yewen, got a comment on this? Is this part of your RMA procedure?

We wont go that far with testing every component under a UV lamp. :)

We run our RMAs very fairly and have gotten much much better over the last two years. We have just invested in doubling our capacity for testing returned components so we can give them more intensive runs and work outs before being rejected as working correctly. Memory really does need to be ran for days before we can say its 100% working and return it to the customer and we now have the capacity to run tests on every component we stock for as long as we need. Not a cheap thing to be able to do. :p

With regards to watercooling specifically. Providing its not due to your neglect that has killed the motherboard we will not void the warranty. Same goes for using an after market heatsink, that technically voids warranties all over your components but you would not find us rejecting a CPU due to this.

OcUK sell to a more high end market and it is a given that about 1% of our customers will use a reference heatsink and fan throughout the whole warranty period of the product.

Take care with your components and we will not have a problem with doing a RMA when something genuinely breaks, if that is down to you splashing your new X48 motherboard with Stella, shorting and killing it then trying to RMA with it smelling of said substance then you would have some problems. :p

If the failure is without a doubt down to user neglect then we have to reject the item, you will find this anywhere you shop. If the product has genuinely failed and you send it back with the socket protector in a "reasonable" condition then it will get accepted and then tested like any component.

All we want from returned items is for them to be in a condition where we can pin it on the manufacturer as their fault and get our money back from them! We will only ever reject an item when we know we wont be able to get a credit for the item back from the manufacturer a few months down the line.

If we sell the watercooled components then we know customers will use them, its simple. We will not reject a graphics card thats been returned back to us JUST because a graphics card full cover waterblock is on the same order for example. I do know of a major competitor who does this.

Its bad business sense, makes stress and hassle when we aim our entire range at the knowledgable enthusiast and kills the high end community that OcUK was at the start of. Its just bad karma all round really!

It is common sense really, look after your gear and there will not be a problem!

I am completely open with the watercooling section and love comments both good and bad, it is a group that is on the up and this only happens by stocking parts people want to buy! Alphacool are being discontinued in favour of Black ICE (same rads as mentioned above but MUCH better support at a buying and RMA level which can only be good for everyone!). If you want to comment on the section either good or bad just pop into the new product suggestions section (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=67) and make a "Watercooling Comments" thread and I will catch it within a day and take anything constructive onboard.

Sorry if its a bit of a ramble, been a long day and that bottle of Glenfiddich was oh so nice. :D

^^ very constructive peice yewen, its why a lot of us exclusively shop at OcUK^^

I think on that note i will end the thread, im going to take the jump and order some parts, im hoping to have this all completed in a week or so, case mod and watercooling installed, wish me luck.

Well at least someone managed to slog through it!

Good luck getting it all together, buzz me on MSN if your after a part that you can't find on the site as I have absolutely loads that I am introducing over the coming weeks that I could bump up the list if needed. :)

Going to be a good setup and will be something if you get it into a 830/832 and looking pro.

I trust there will be after pictures coming.

In answer to your question above I missed about push pull on the rad, I would have it take air from inside the case (which should not be that hot due to the watercooling) and then exhaust it out. If you have the air being blown into the case your just pumping hot air into your case. How I look at it anyway. :)

Thanks mate, ive added you to my MSN, i do still have a couple of questions about barbs and tubing...sorry. Still confused by it, i like the look of the compression barbs and the anti kink tubing, can you tell me which ones i need for rad, res and cpu block, and which anti kink tube to match?

'IS there anything i should wait for, worth waiting for'?

Ive settled on the following (but not sure if the sizes are right):
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-011-PM

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-028-XS

I've used that block in my build mate, made a thread recently, check it out! :)

Found it in Case central ;) sweet btw.

Any problems with that block? also could you envisage any problems with my mobo, last, did you use a backing plate?

The block is great, although i dont have anything to compare it to. Theres a bit of trapped air in the block which i need to get out. I placed my order over the phone, and i must have forgot to get the backing plate. The motherboard hasnt bowed, so i'm not overly bothered :)

The block is a best seller, only really beaten by the Acetal version. If that is not a big enough advert I do not know what is!

I have now ordered all my kit, Thanks Yewen for your help.

Ill start a new thread in Case central, showing my progress, before's and after's, im hoping to have this complete by Sunday Evening....
