Hi everyone, first time in this forum. I have been over at overclockers.com on their forum and they have helped as much as they can since we are in the UK and their USA.

So here is my shopping list for my new cooler;

  • Koolance CPU-380A
  • Aqua Computer Aquatube
  • 4 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin
  • Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil
  • 10 x OcUK 1/2" G1/4 - FatBoy Style - Barb
  • Alphacool NexXxos XT45 480mm
  • 3 Meters Primochill PrimoFlex Pro LRT 1/2" ID
  • Swiftech MCP35X PWM
  • Zalman MFC1 Combo 5.25" 5 Channel
  • 25L De-ionized water
  • EK Crosshair IV Formula Full Cover

I did originally want a 900D, but as that has been delayed to June i was looking at getting this case; Here

My shopping list for internals is pretty much done, but as the case is not available in the USA i was unable to get help from there. And after spending a couple of days googleing i haven't been able to find many watercooling in this case. and not many using the case.

Has anyone else here used it that could send me some pictures for spacing ideas? and dimensions of the top bay would be amazing so i can at least visualize the space i have to play with. I have messaged Xilence directly to ask for dimensions but no reply as of yet

Regards,
Jamie Evans

hi and welcome to the forums, I've not heard much on the Xilence cases so I won't comment on how good they are for watercooling, but looking at your build it looks a tad excessive seeings as you are only planning on a single 480 in there. Although I guess it will leave you plenty of room for expansion in the future should you want to.

That case is absolutely ginormous though and unless you are really planning on expanding in the future, I personally wouldn't go for something that huge. If you aren't in a hurry then just wait for the 900D, I think maybe it'll suit your needs better?

The only video I found on that case with watercooling is in German:

if im honest, when i start something i always go over the top. I intend to switch out my 2 5770's for 2 7970's at some point this year so they will be being added to my loop, so i will most likely add another double or triple rad.

When i first started i brought a koolance exos external system, its only dual 80mm but i got that just to cool my MB as it was overheating like mad, and issue the crosshair iv is known for sadly.

The quad rad is over the top for what i have now. But as the difference between the triple and the quad is £20, i may aswell go for the extra performance.

The pump i was suggested like crazy, and i guess although it is overpowerd for the loop, atleast i can drop it right down and go silent. Again another advantage on the rad, i will be getting the fans as low as possible as it is one of the best performers at ultra low fan speeds. Gone for the faster fans just because i like the head room.

If i am honest with you, i fell in love with the 900D the second i saw it. Which at the time the release date was April. So it was in my shopping basket waiting. June is... i don't know, a bit of a stretch away if im honest.

I did intend to use the xilence in a slightly different way to normal. Having the quad rad, pump, res, fan controller, and maybe even a dvd drive all in the top, and just looping everything straight down to the CPU and into the loop, then allowing some space for rads inside the case when i get the GPU's done.

I always prefer overkill :-) But i am also very worried about using the xilence case as so little people in the UK have actually used it. I am extremely picky on wiring if you hadn't of guessed i like things to be neat. I currently have a In-Win maelstrom, huge case but no cable management, its horrible :-(

Yeah I know what you mean, it's always nice to have extra room for expansion if you know that you are the kind of person who likes to add later on. When you look at it June isn't THAT far off, especially if you know that the 900D will be the case you really want.

I know the feeling of wanting to get up and running now, totally do, I was so tempted to get a different case before I got the 800D because the 800D got pushed back a month or so, but I was so happy I waited and got the build I truly wanted. I'm also waiting on the 900D, as I'd like to get some quad rads going as I'm cooling some pretty blistering components atm.

Also the point you mentioned in that there doesn't seem to be a lot of people with the Xil. case so support from communities might be a bit on the slim side is a good one. My friend was at CES and saw the 900D and he's gonna be swapping his TJ11 out for it as soon as they come out, he said it's just that good.

I'm getting more and more convinced to wait now :-( I guess i can always stick the money in a savings account lmao. I haven't spent money on my system for 2 years so its time for a big upgrade

i take it everyone has seen the image that we're removed from here? Looks nice i must admit

no quad rad support, which i would expect at that price.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I do want the quad rad, its more of a requirement for a system. Its simply more exonsive and ugly using 2 240mm's then a single quad. Plus smaller rads tend to have more restriction on the flow

To fit the quad in the bottom is seems you have to remove the HDD bays. I have 4 HDDs and 2 SSD's so i can't really justify that. The case also seems tiny for the price. My motherboard is an E-ATX, Which it does support, but using it will dwarf the case it seems.

I also hate the silver on the inside, my personal preference. MY system is all black and red, and if im spending that sort of money on a case, i don't really expect to have to rip it apart to paint it. Its just not what i'm looking for

Thanks for the response though. I actually hadn't seen that case before. As my PC is connected to a TV and not under a desk the size i would rather go over the top huge then go for something smaller. But i am on a budget. The budget was the main reason i liked to xilence case. Being £80 cheaper

I see, I did look at the Xilence case a few months back when I was deciding which big water case to go with. I opted against it due to it looking quite cheap/plastic.

Other cases to consider:

XSPC H2+ (will take 2 x quads and more)
Phobya Ultrabig Watercase (will take 2 x quads and more)

But if you're craving a 900D, only a 900D will suffice :)

the Phobya case i didn't look at and watch some reviews of yesterday. I hate the fan holes on the back, when the case is open it looks very ugly and rather distracting in my opinions.
I couldn't even find the XSPC H2+ in a UK shop. It actually does look a lot like the 900D

I currently have this case
caseangle.jpg

which i honestly don't think is as plasticy as the Xilence. But i do love the looks of the 900D. Such a hard choice to make

ok so i have just been offered the chance to order everything today.... soo i ordered the Xilence case, should be here in a couple of days. And as not many cases have been found with this case, i will be sure to post pictures up

Pictures will be slightly delayed. After ordering some parts which overclockers did not have, the order got messed up. Displaying that everything was in stock, now they have decided to put the order through they have sold one cable which i ordered so i now have to wait for a single cable to come before i can even size up to place an order for my res. Will be around Friday before i even start on this

Overclockers shipped what i asked so i'm very glad on that

I didn't think that far about competitors. Will edit the post and blank the name.

And i will put up any pictures people want. Sadly the parts im waiting on are the main ones, pump, rad, hose etc.

Till i have the pump and rad in place i can't decide which res will fit best. I can and will put pictures of just the case on if anyone wants them, till the rest of my parts arrive

NP :)

I'm more interested to see how that whole top extension comes together for rad space, as isn't it designed to hold an ITX system in the top?
