Watercooling CPU temp performance.

No need to tip upside down but if you get the in/outlet upwards that will shift it out, and you hear it gurgle. Make sure to have no air in the res if you can, otherwise the tilting could suck any air into the pump and loop.
Another possibility is air in the block, laying the case flat could help with this. What sort of pin layout is it? Could the block simply be no good?
What components do you have, are there any that may be extremely restrictive, did any look so when you where assembling?

As a comparison I have a i5 760 and a 7950 on a 280 sr1. I leave it folding (cpu&gpu) overnight and it pulls about 300 watts at the wall, so reasonably 250 watts by the cpu and gpu into the loop. 2 fans in push and set as low as they go ~5v and I have no trouble dissipating the heat.

So the sr1 is certainly capable of getting rid of the heat. I may have linked this to you in your other thread, but here is a direct comparison of the sr1 and other fpi rads. http://skinneelabs.com/triple-radiator-comparison-v2/4/
Considering the heat you're generating and the fan setup, bar some serious problem with it, it should be able to dissipate the load with ease.

I mean within the water block. Some have pin layout while others have channels.

Yup side panel to the floor inlet/outlet facing up (pref outlet raised above inlet).

edit: If im loking at the correct pics it looks like a channel layout. Are you using the correct inlet hole, and what is the base plate's orientation in relation to its inlet/outlet?

As far as I am aware it has channels, I could be wrong but pretty sure I read somewhere it has channels.
I tried putting it on it's side for a a bit. Some glugging when I first turned it on but the res is not full to the brim, I think it was more that settling down again more than anything else, temps are the same. Might just be my CPU is not the best in terms of temperature and transferring heat.

I would say it's normal, just running prime now and after 5 minutes, max I am seeing is 65, I have an ek 240 rad and 2 fans about 900-1000rpm, that's at 4.5 and 1.245v, I idle mid 30's.

It's as above, basically intel cheaped out on the paste.

That makes me feel a bit better. If you are seeing a max of 65 that works out about right with the voltage difference. Does seem to me like it is simply a case of the CPU not being able to shed the heat quick enough, hence slight improvements with resitting and whatnot but still hitting that wall. Either way I know 8 pack get a 3770k to 4.6ghz with less than 1.2 vcore so I have a thread seeing if I can get some voodoo magic and lower it a bit. Thanks for all the help, it is still a good 10-15c improvement over air and looks cool xD

it is normal look in my sig you will see what i am running and i am getting near enough the same temps, the only way to make it take full use of water is delid unfortunately intel bodged this up pretty bad or they could have done it on purpose waiting for us to jump on to haswell without oc limitations ;)
if it make you feel any better i have tested my brothers 3570k and his runs about 10c cooler then mine at same volts its very dependent on the processor as well, not all are the same unfortunately
