hello guys

i'm new to watercooling i currently have a corsair h50 cooling my i7 920 @ 4.2ghz @ 1.392vcore and under prime its reaching 97c on the cores i've let it run for 4hours to make sure it was semi stable. thing is i cant accept these temps which what brings me here, i have done/stil doing abit of research, i have all ready seen a cpu block in MM (heatkiller 3.0 Cu) i basically want the cheapest components to try and keep my cpu cool not to bothered about cooling my gpu just yet. can any 1 spec me a decent set up with a budget in mind... ideally i would like to keep my cpu in the 70 full load

my current system is
i7 920 @ 4.2ghz
6gb corsair xms
ga ex58 ud3r
ati 5850
coolermaster cm690 II advanced (the cm690 II adv can fit 240mm rad top and bottom, think i have read some where if you have it in the top it needs to be a stealth rad for mobo clearance.)

this is what i have came up with so far

EK CoolStream Radiator XT 240 (120.2)
XSPC 200 Bay Reservoir & Pump - Clear
Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing UV Blue Transparant - 2m
EK 12mm (1/2") G1/4 High-Flow Fitting x 4
XSPC Tubing Clip For 1/2" and 7/16" Hose x4
HEATKILLER® CPU Rev3.0 1366

I wouldn't let a cpu run at those sort of temps, i'd suggest backing off until temps are below 75 for now. Spec looks good and should easily keep that i7 in check, if you are planning to add anything else to the loop at a later date the pump may struggle as it's not particularly powerful.

i wont be adding anything else to the loop just yet, but for future would i be best of getting aa XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir & Pump, only want a bay res for easy installation !

It maybe wise to get the bigger pump/res if your thinking about adding more to the loop in the future. Hopefully someone with experience of the bay pump/res combos will reply and be able to give you more info.

I would recommend not using bay res'

they can cause quite a few problems

ideally get one of the swiftech rads with inbuilt pumps plus an MCRES which can both be bought from one of OCUK's competitors which specialises in water cooling

this is what i have come up with now does every thing look ok ?

XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir & Pump - Clear
Black Ice GT Stealth 240 Radiator x2
Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing - 3m
EK 12mm (1/2") G1/4 High-Flow Fitting x12
Heatkiller CPU Waterblock Revision 3
Thermochill EC6

because they think it's easier

hit the nail on the head! all tho i'm not to sure what you meen by "they" anyway.. i thought it would be abit easier but now you mention it i think i will go with a separate pump res, all your input it welcome the last thing i want is to spend my cash and not get the results i want!

i just caught my eye on this kit swiftech H20-220 Ultima XT not sure if this will do the job on my cpu.

because they think it's easier

in reality it makes filling and emptying the loop very hard/risky to do without a T-line

Why's that?
When I fill my bay res/pump combo I ensure it's powered on from another computer incase of a leak.

When I'm emptying it, I take pull out one tube on the CPU block and it drains everything from that one tube.

any idea if W C uk pro 240 kit will be able to cool my cpu.. searched google for a few reviews but cant seem to find any! what i am thinking is buy this kit and see how it goes and if its not acceptable then i'll add another 120/240 rad at a later date.

Thermochill EC6 Non Conductive Coolant - UV Blue
XSPC Delta V3 Universal CPU Inc 1366 - Black - will not be using this block i'll be using heatkiller 3.0 cu
12V X2O Compact 450 Water Pump/Reservoir
XSPC RS240 Radiator - Black
Xilence Red Wing 1500RPM 120mm - PWM
3/8" ID - 1/2" OD Hose - Clear 1m
1/4" BSPP - 3/8" Hose Tail XSPC - Chrome
Black PVC Hose Clip 1/2" OD

it'll be fine

those aren't the most ideal components but it'll be fine
