watercooling help.

hello guys

i'm new to watercooling i currently have a corsair h50 cooling my i7 920 @ 4.2ghz @ 1.392vcore and under prime its reaching 97c on the cores i've let it run for 4hours to make sure it was semi stable. thing is i cant accept these temps which what brings me here, i have done/stil doing abit of research, i have all ready seen a cpu block in MM (heatkiller 3.0 Cu) i basically want the cheapest components to try and keep my cpu cool not to bothered about cooling my gpu just yet. can any 1 spec me a decent set up with a budget in mind... ideally i would like to keep my cpu in the 70 full load

my current system is
i7 920 @ 4.2ghz
6gb corsair xms
ga ex58 ud3r
ati 5850
coolermaster cm690 II advanced (the cm690 II adv can fit 240mm rad top and bottom, think i have read some where if you have it in the top it needs to be a stealth rad for mobo clearance.)

this is what i have came up with so far

EK CoolStream Radiator XT 240 (120.2)
XSPC 200 Bay Reservoir & Pump - Clear
Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing UV Blue Transparant - 2m
EK 12mm (1/2") G1/4 High-Flow Fitting x 4
XSPC Tubing Clip For 1/2" and 7/16" Hose x4
HEATKILLER® CPU Rev3.0 1366

i wont be adding anything else to the loop just yet, but for future would i be best of getting aa XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir & Pump, only want a bay res for easy installation !

hit the nail on the head! all tho i'm not to sure what you meen by "they" anyway.. i thought it would be abit easier but now you mention it i think i will go with a separate pump res, all your input it welcome the last thing i want is to spend my cash and not get the results i want!

i just caught my eye on this kit swiftech H20-220 Ultima XT not sure if this will do the job on my cpu.

any idea if W C uk pro 240 kit will be able to cool my cpu.. searched google for a few reviews but cant seem to find any! what i am thinking is buy this kit and see how it goes and if its not acceptable then i'll add another 120/240 rad at a later date.

i know tell me qabout it, at 4ghz 1.32vcore i only hit 85c but at 4.2 1.39vcore it hits 97c on the cores

thats why i've went down the custom watercooling route hopefull i'll be in the high 70c's with the kit i've picked.

all my parts arrived to day total budget was 130!

upon cleaning out my rad i noticed it was leaking before i even started so have requested RMA from a competitor but cant be bothered to wait and have ordered another 1 from ocuk

what the hell is wrong with these EK CoolStream Radiator XT 240 its the 2nd 1 i have had which is leaking from where you put the screws in :mad:

no mate i used washers as the screws where to small to screw in to the bottom screw holes in my cm690 II advanced. i made sure i aligned the screws up perfectly i did not use any force to screw them in.

it seems other people have had leaky ek xt 240mm radiators

ok thanks to ocuk and there VERY VERY quick turn around time on my RMA, i have my watercooling up and running... not finnished on how i want it to look but its a start.

just a recap at 4.2ghz 1.39 vcore with a corsair h50 akasa apache/viper in push pull i was htting 97c on the hottest core, just finnished 4 hours of prime and max temp was 76c on the hottest core so i'm very pleased 21c off load temps and 9c off idle

more then likely we are never satisfied ! just ordered another 240mm radiator for the top of my case hopefully drop the temps another 5-7c
