Far far away....
Im about to put together a custom setup. What I would like to know is if there is any value in mounting the pump higer in the case thand the water blocks.

My thinking, right or wrongly is that mavity may ease the strain on the pump if the water is flowing "down" the tubing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or am I being dumb?

Still got to pump it back up sometime :p

If the total hight difference between the lowest component and highest component is less the strain will be reduced. If not then I don't believe it'll have much effect.

In a closed loop, it'll have no effect whatsoever. Pump needs to be below reservoir to ease initial filling and bleeding.

I been thinking of something a little different about strain on waterpumps..

Is it easyer for a waterpump to push/pump water around a 3/8 loop or a 1/2 loop or would it be the same...???

Recent thread on here about that. Makes little difference apparently.

Blow thru a thin straw then blow thru a thick one ;)
Funny...This is what was making me think of this...

Am wondering if this could be one of the causes of why so many DDC pumps are failing to start, as they are really made for 3/8 tubing before people replace the tops...

Mine failing to start all the time....I got hit it with something to get it to start ...
And there people on XS who has had there replaced 2 or 3 times for the same problem....

One of mine annoyingly keeps stalling for a few seconds before restarting, might go back to the D5, just as quiet and the slight drop in flow rate isn't going to have much of an effect on my temps anyway.

Jokester

Mine had the same problem. I have since cleaned it by removing the impellor (its only held with magnets so nothing to unscrew) and wiped around where the impellor sits. No more stalls in the past 2 months :)

I cleaned mine went it started failing to start about 3/4 weeks ago (see link to my thread below)....It ran fine again for a couple of weeks and then started failing to start again...

Am thinking of ordering a D5 myself because of this problem...
It's got so bad now, that i have to leave the side panel off my case...

Which is the water inlet on a D5 ?? (top or side) if side inlet ,can i install it so the inlet is at the top like a DDC with modded top is ??

As top outlet is total wrong for how my watercooling is setup :(
