Hello,
I am in the middle of specing my first water cooling setup, i have not included the CPU and GPU coolers yet as i am waiting for the new Intel CPU and have not decided on GFX yet.

Please advise if all is ok with this spec:

Feser TFC Xchanger - Triple Radiator 360
Swiftech Laing D5 Vario MCP655 12V DC Pump
Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing - 2m
8 X EK 1/2" Hose fitting
XSPC Single Bay Reservoir - Clear
Feser One UV Reactive Coolant 1 Litre (Acid Green)

I'm planning on putting into a Coolermaster 1100 case (I know i will need to do a bit of modding as the radiator is a tight fit). Anyone else running this case and rad?

Thanks

I don't trust compression fittings. Even good ones.

I would swap the EK barbs for D-Tek or Swiftech which have a decent 'barb' on them. And then you can use the 7/16" tubing, softened in boiling water, without clamps. The seal is superb - so good you have to cut the tubing off.

And I'd have a Swiftech MicroRes or an EK tubular reservoir over any Bayres. The Bayres' always seem that bit harder when it comes to bleeding the system, and EK have at last engineered a system that stops the cyclone effect in high-flow systems.

Otherwise, your choices seem fine.

Any reason for that?

Personal bad experience?

Reason I ask, is these are my current choice for a new WC build, for looks and for re-useability.

You can't re-use the tubing as it's slack when removed and replaced. You have to cut it back a bit to be sure and yes, I've had bad experience with moving tubing out of the way inside cases for whatever reason and the compression fitting coming off. I've never had that happen with 7/16" on 1/2" barbs with or without clamps.

Bitspower made some nice compression fittings that you could spanner down, but even so, I wouldn't trust them. Your mileage may vary.

Mine seem to be doing just fine at the moment, the tubing is stuck on pretty hard too.

It only has to come off once and you'll change your tune;)

If you don't mess about inside the case much they are probably OK, but I'm constantly changing stuff about and I need really solid connections.

Yeh fair enough, when i am moving things about, i get very paranoid. But it's just stuck under my desk now and i don't plan on going there for a while :p I'm using 7/16" tubing on 1/2" TFC fittings.

Any reason for not using 1/2" tubing?

Also, just had a look at your WC build (nice btw), how are you finding that pump with a high restriction block? And can you see the water flowing through it easily enough? (like the eye-candy myself :))

Ah OK, something else to consider!

Won't be re-using much, but I do like the looks of the compression fittings.

agree with above 7/16 tubing, heat the ends in hot water and force over the barbs - no need for clips or fittings etc. Solid solid seal and works superbly well

The extra cost of compression isn's worth it, by the time you have enough for a rig it'll cost like £30 instead of 15.

1/2 EK Barbs with 7/16 tubing and cable ties cut neatly for good measure is where it's at.

And yet WJA96 in a post above, said to avoid the EK barbs and get D-Tek or Swiftech!

Confused?

You will be!

The pump seems to be doing just fine, i could only see water flowing through the block when there was air in the loop, but it's all gone now so i can't see anything :p

Can't see why but i guess that's down to choice :P I find the EK Barbs are really good myself.

Arent you using TFC compression fittings in your sig? :o
