Watercooling

Is there anyone here who hasn't had something built for them by Marci :D (Thanks for the Pelts by the way - they worked a treat! - in sig ;) )

With your budget I'd seriously consider getting the man to but something together for you, they have great kit and an excellent reputation! I just like building/playing too much to let anyone have all the fun - but if you don't enjoy that stuff then custom built is the way - and a budget of £1200 will get you a top notch conroe rig with a blistering GFX card thrown in! (Then you can get the whole lot intergrated in one go instead of having to dirty your hands in a year's time when you upgrade again!)

Just as a matter of interest, why on earth do you want to upgrade your rig? It's awesome (I have a similar one myself) All you really need to do is get a couple of decent GFX cards (7950's 7900GTX's) and put the whole thing under water - you will not get value for money throwing out all that great kit and going conroe at the moment - the difference in games will not be worth it - just my 2 cents - but I think you'd be better off watercooling what you have (with a GFX card upgrade - SLI?) and then running that for at least another year, then upgrading - the bonus is that if you do get the quality parts you will be able to port them across to your next rig :D

Ho! o/

I almost had him make me a push shoudl for my 140mm Yates, but in the end I went for a custom-made one because it was too hard to take accurate measures.

Still wouldnt be able to mount the rad to inside of my stacker's drive bays if it wasnt for the sutff he suggested...

Anyways back on topic, I'd keep that Opteron 170 until dec/jan when the motherboards have matured a little and DDR2 prices have dropped some more.

Get yourself some good water now, and jump ship to conroe when its been going for a bit and the prices have dropped even more. Thats what I'll be doing.

That's assuming your optie aint a total dud, tho, if mine struggled to hit 2.6 instead of doing 3.0 without breaking a sweat id think differently, likely as not...
