Waterproofing your data cabinet...

Sorry guys, she's BONE dry inside. Just nice and warm but nothing is hot. I checked the roof of the cab and there is no sign of drips. All the dust is still there. I even pulled a drive from one of the NAS. I think my (patent pending) quin layerying system has done the job.

Not a good idea, at least if a "shed" of type of thing I'd have a dehumifier running, and AC running so it never drops below or gets too hot. Probably best if you had a garage built onto the house so it's relatively warm and dry

I appreciate you don't know the logistics involved.....but i'm not unpatching ~24 cables and then pulling them back through the house and loft to a temp location. Also my fibre will need to be drilled through an externall wall. This is not a full time solution, just a temp solution whilst building work is happening.

The cab has been sat in a single skin, cold, wet, damp garage for + 5 years. Without issue. It's now been outside for over a week. It's still warm and dry, the equipment has no idea it's in a different environment to where it has been all of it's life.

Everybody said it would be full of condensation. It isn't. So, what's the issue?

people concerned for the sake of nothing...thats not unusual on a forum. keep doing you john

with the cabinet top covered versus the garage - got to wonder where the moisture from the cold air, entering below now goes,
if I were recovering it think I'd place some newspaper on the upper surface out of curiosity to convince myself there isn't anything significant,
aren't interiors of hdd's hermetically sealed but the circuit boards are not.

but, yes, clearly inconveient to displace it elsewhere during refurb .. hopefully have good alarm/cctv.
