Wayne Rooney will miss the Euro 2012 group stage after being banned for three matches for his sending off against Montenegro.

Uefa's disciplinary panel decided on the punishment for next summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine at a meeting on Thursday.

Well done, son

No point in him going on the plane at all, what a disgrace he has become.

Not sure if this is Uefa/FIFA punishing FA/England for the World Cup bidding scandal that BBC reported.

What a load of rubbish, digsgrace? his manner has improved leaps and bounds.

3 game ban is OTT as above, hope to see this appealed although i don't see anything changing he was silly to lash out the way he did and realised immediatly what he had done.

How has it improved, he is how old? He is a dad, icon to million of younger kids, He is so petulant when things are not going his way.

Uefa described it as an "assault" not sure if serious

I couldn't careless anyway, just like them I cannot be bothered with England anymore. If I was a united fan I'd be happy.

International football is second rate compared to the champions league or even the premier league. None of them can get up for playing anything other than one of the top 4 in the world. Neither can I any longer.

I'd rather watch the U21's.

Rubbish, you will be watching the England group games come Summer 2012.

At least we'll see England dominate a group, after all the world cup was all his fault wasn't it? :)

Here comes the Man U fans to praise Rooney!

What if Fabio takes Rooney and England will all 3 group games and conceded no goals and score 7, would he play Rooney in the next round?

YEs thats whats worse, most 2 footed horror tackles are MISTAKES and over enthusiastic, not out to injure the player. Rooney didn't do that, he was NOT fouled, in any way, and decided to get upset and kick a player. If he was attempting to tackle and screwed up thats much LESS bad. Theres poor execution of a tackle, and theres completely unsportsman like conduct, the latter is worse.

I do have to laugh at the people saying, but he's improved a lot.... like Rooney did this every game and with the three or four incidents mentioned in the last year, its been months between this and the last one.

Its like saying Barton's improved, when you mention punching Pederson, that was "ages" ago, again as if his assaults previously were on an almost game by game basis, punching a player, off the ball, for no reason, is something most players would never do in an entire career.

Either way, who cares, Rooney is usually crap for England, but shows up against, crap teams, the types Crouch can score against aswell. In big games against the tougher teams, he hasn't had a lot of good games for England. For some reason he's become the poster boy for England and people think we can't win without him, yet it was Young who finally got selected and has been involved in almost all the goals, either scoring or assisting and usually the best England player on the pitch.

We won't win the Euro's with, or without him so honestly, it makes no difference either way.

You cant argue with these blind fans, last year Rooney elbowed McCarthy which he got away with, as the pic shows him going to the ref "what have I done", fact is when you have the this sort of label you will get the worst punishment possible, being a saint on the pitch i.e Linkear means you wont be judge as a repeat offender or nasty player by the refs/powers that be and even football fans.

I wouldn't mind if he got sent off for tough tackling but ever thing that comes to light its either snide dirty kick outs ala Euro 2004 and his latest card, which means he is now joint with become as being is the most red carded player for England. 5 more years and he could easily take top spot.

Strange how Capello was saying his dad's arrest was going to be no issue and that Wayne was calm and collected - as a manager would you have picked him considering his history? Not shocked by the 3 game ban but I think Capello has to take a degree of blame here for this occurring.

He has given up on the England team, he is going next year, tbh I dont think he cares what his reputation is as he already has a job lined up.

Even worse.... Wales!

Got to love the bitterness of Great Britain

We have a better win percentage without him ;3.

Rooneys loss, Englands gain :D

tbh he might as well tell Rooney he is not going, build a new team around another striker/attacker, job done.

No I won't. The last full game I watched was against Germany. I've seen nothing more than a few minutes since. I didn't care about qualification and I don't care if we get humiliated in the next tournament.

Until there is a change in attitude from all players regarding playing for England including friendlies etc I don't care either. So much needs to change from managers of club teams and the players who just turn up for 'important' games.

You hear Terry and co spew fourth the same tired old cliches before each match about always being up for it when playing for england for them to deliver another half asleep performance.

I'd rather they played kids and let the 200k per week players get on with playing for their clubs.

You will, like you said you watched Germany, last big England game, Euro 2012 is in June, be nice and warm, everyone up for something to watch, offers on, going round to mates to watch the match, football is football, when its on its on, summer of 2013 we have nothing until Brazil 2014.

I agree with the kids but thats not going to happen, they are just as bad (mentaility) think they are world beaters at 21, we need to adopt the another style of play, but again its all down to grass routes, we battered Spain in 1996 at our peak now we cant hold a candle to the Spanish

I'm shocked to see the two biggest culprits of the word that we're not allowed to say on here now doing their thing :)

? Who are the two, please respond.

I think he should be included in the squad, but if the team that gets us through the group stage, at the tournament, is working really well, he wouldn't necessarily get straight back into the starting eleven.

Maybe but if he was not picked that would send a message to him, he cant keep doing this crap.

Cheets do you watch England?

Honestly coming from someone like you who supports a small Premeir league team and actually goes to matches i just cant stand most of our players. The way they act on the pitch (club level)is just childish and arrogant.

Prime example is a ronney elbow smash agaisnt wigan, Or the constant harrasing of the refs by any of the english Chelsea players, Blatant diving from Gerrared ....

Honestly when stoke were a championship team i didnt mind England but now i get to watch these players live most weeks i just cant stand them and cant bring myself to support them in the slightest.

I look thought the England team sheet and theee isnt one player on there i would think "hes a decent bloke works hard for the team.." I dont think there has been a likeable England player since Beckham.

Many of my friends who arent glory hunting Sky Sports experts think the same

Glad he is suspended, utter tripe.
