3930k and a Rampage IV Extreme at stock under water.
2 480 x 60mm rads and a d5

Max temp on Firestrike is 51ºC. Does that sound about right? Think I expected better tbh especially as I haven't added any GPUs yet!

Nothing wrong with that 51'c, upping the pump speed will knock a couple of degrees off, don't forget its a 6 core not 4.

Sounds a little high but I don't know what temps 3930k run at to know it is unusually high. With that much radiator space on a cpu only loop it sounds like you have reached the limit of how much heat the cpu block can take so you will probably find that when you add your gpu's your cpu temp stays the same.

Fan speed and room temp are kind of important factors.

The block will take as much heat as it can dissipate into the water, and its heat dissipation is based entirely on water temp and flow rate.

What's the idle/load delta?

I think you're bang on... The rads are way over kill I know but I will be adding GPUs soon :D

Ill check idle/load ∆ and get back to you... Loop order goes. Pump - rad - rad- mobo block - CPU - mobo block red...

does seem quite high, my 5930k six core at 4.5ghz from 3.7ghz turbo does 56c on firestrike with a h110i gt (280mm x20ish radiator). Its an AIO cooler so liquid flow and radiator thickness is greatly reduced from that of a custom loop and for a effective 960mm x 60 rad on your build. Im doing a custom loop with 2x 480 rads and a 240 in the next few weeks. Thats the temp from a single 980, currently exchanging my non-reference 980Ti's for reference ones to build into the loop.

Maybe its because your cooling the mobo aswell but like like others have said depends on fan speed and liquid flow aswell. And also delta temperatures etc. What sort of temps do you get for a stress test like Aida64?
