Hi, I recently bought a 2tb WD drive, and installed it (it was new and all), and it worked fine for a week or two, however, whenever i let the computer go into sleep (usually overnight) now, and i wake it up in the morning, the 2tb disk is missing. It is not my boot disk, and my 2 other disks seem fine, but this one does this reliably everynight now.

I googled it, and somebody suggested changing from AHCI to IDE, and someone said to install Intel Matrix drivers or something, but wanted to ask here for any suggestions?

I had a Hard Drive go missing now and again.
I thought it had something to do with my MB but hadn't. It was the drive itself.

does it come back after a reboot?
A reboot didnt work for me. I had to switch it off before it came back again.

When I replaced the Hard Drive the problem went away.

BTW I never have the PC go to sleep, I've that set to Never.

Turning off/on again will cause the hard drive to reappear yes.

I would do if i could, but my girlfriend complains about the various lights/fans whirring etc.

I am guessing it is the actual hard drive itself, but it's a faf to RMA it, as it has almost all my data on and i only have a 500gb transfer external to ferry data on, and i'd rather fix the one i have. Any suggestions as to how to go about stopping this problem?
