Hi all

I'm finally getting round to purchasing some drives to use in my HP Microserver that I am planning on installing ESXi onto and passing the disks through to a XPEnology machine to provide storage for a home virtualisation lab. I am looking at getting one of the 4x3TB WD RED bundles that OCUK do. I seem to remember that the 3TB drives had some problems with reliability a while back and was wondering if this is still the case and if so what would you point me towards instead. I'll probably have them in SHR2 or RAID 6 to give me a bit of reliability so will need some NAS drives

Thanks

Hi,

We have sold many of these drives and not had many returns. I believe a few years ago it was circulating that they were bad drives but they seem toi work no problems and WD is a very reliable brand.

I know the seagate 3TB drives a few months ago had a report come out about really high failure rate so you could be thinking of this.
