Hi all,
yeah so yesterday I come back from work and sit on my chair,
computer comes out of screensaver,
and i open internet explorer,
and suddenly the whole system starts spiking every 5 seconds,
core 2 and 3 alternatively hitting 100%, rendering the system unusable.
So I say to myself "ugh stupid powersaving mode and vista"
and I decide to hit the reset switch.
When it reboots I see the "Windows" start-up screen, the bar scrolls for about 5 minutes. Weird. Seems very slow. Suddenly i get an error "sata port 3 error" and funny thing is I don't even have anything connected to sata port 3 (i have ports 0,1,2 used).
I do another reboot and it's again slow as heck, but I managed to boot to Windows and with suspicion i run Intel matrix console and do a "check"
After it's done it says "1 ECC error found" and "1 block moved due to physical error." But it says it fixed the problem so I reboot, and the boot time seems OK. After it boots to desktop an application called ImpulseNow (for the game Demigod) fails to load at startup citing an error in application. This was probably the one that was hit by the bad sector.
Is this one of the WD black physically failing? Is it time to replace the drive? (it is only a half year old at max) or is it just a little glitch in raid array? I have an image 2 weeks old and I have no problem reimaging, but this would be a moot point if the drive is physically bonkers.
Thanks,
