Hi guys I have a Hornttek Enterprise 4x external enclosure that holds 4 drives.
In this there is a Toshiba P300 4tb, a Hitachi 4tb and a Samsung 3tb..
Everything has been running perfectly and copying from drive to drive was between 110-130mb sec.
I then on the 2nd of this month purchased a WD Blue 4tb and put this also in the enclosure.
I have only put it in the last couple of days so didnt realise any problem until yesterday.
When copying from drive to drive now (Any of the 4 drives) the speed is between 30-50mb sec which is very slow compared to before.
I have even reformatted and reinstalled Win10 and all drivers and the problem still exists.
Took the drives out one by one and was copying from a WD 2tb 2.5" Elements drive and still the same slow speed.
I left the WD Blue 4tb till last and again was the same...
Took that out and put the others back in one at a time and 'BOOM' the stuff strted copying at 120mb sec.
Put other drives in and still working until i put in the WD Blue and then back to 30mb sec.
I took drive round to a friends who has a different external enclosure and tried it on his and it was 40mb sec.
I've been in touch with OCUK and spoke to someone who said it could be because its a 5400rpm or that the drive isnt getting enough power thru the caddy.
Obviously its not it just doesnt work in 2 different enclosures..
Has anyone else purchased one of these drives and used them in an external caddy without any problems?
OCUK said I could rma it but I would rather see if anyone else has had the same problem..
I would have presumed if it was power then the drive being on its own without the other 3 would be drawing enough power..
Thanks for any help that anyone can provide...
Best wishes..
