I think my hard drive has died a painfull death. Over the last couple of weeks my HD had been making a Ticking noise when busy. last night when i went to load windows it came up with the Blue Screen of Death, Unfortunately you can't see the error as it restarts the PC.

so i tried repairing the error using the windows installation disk, windows reported the error and confirmed that it could not be fixed, i checked the error details which confirmed (Boot Sector Failure). With that in mind i thought it might be a corrupted OS, so i formatted the HD and tried re-installing on a new partition, window shows up 0% then an error occurs saying cannot install and will cancel operation.

Anyone recomend a new HD iv'e seen the HD Samsung 1TB F3

is it any good?

Never thought I would see the day a Samsung HDD was recommended for reliability over a WD... What is the world coming to?? :o

I was always a Western Digital fan myself, but Samsung have came on so much with their manufacturing process it leaves very little between them and WD. I think the days of normal HDD's are limited. Anything with moving parts is always going to be susceptible to failure. Not that SSD's don't fail, but just a lot less.
