£99, anything better?

This or thinking about waiting for Evo 980 1TB but its going to cost a fortune right.

I heard Samsungs PCIE 4 NVME will use new tech that's better than current PCIE4 drives?

You wont do much better than the SN550 for £99.

Frankly, even taking speeds into account if you're just gaming there will be no perceivable difference between the SN550 and an expensive Gen 4 drive, let alone an over hyped brand like Samsung. There's very, very few scenarios where an end user will need Gen 4 speeds for anything they do.

For lower budget Kingston A2000 and WD Blue SN550 are the top choises.
If you want above basic drive, then SM2262EN drives like Adata SX8200 Pro/Gammix S11, or Phison E12 based drives like Corsair MP510/PNY CS3030/TeamGroup MP34 are good ones from commonly available ones. Kioxia (/Toshiba) RD500 and Seagate 510 are other sense making drives.
Non-Q Sabrent Rocket is also good, though not on sale in many places

Not to derail thread but im looking at the 2tb version for a gaming build, i dont need the fastest drive, i just want to stick windows 10 on it along with games. Reliability is more inportant, ive always gone with samsung ssd's i used to have WD raptor HDDs back in the day and they were very good.

The SN550 is a great option for what you're looking at.

I would recommend partitioning off a small part of the drive for your Windows 10 installation, that way if you need to reinstall the O/S or something down the line the rest of your data wont be effected.

Thanks, what size should I partition just for the operating system?

2tb Sabrent rocket NVMe can be had for £180. Why not spend the £80 for a much faster driver for double the capacity.
You WILL eventually need it
