WD Caviar Blue HDD proprietary SATA data connection?

Hi all

I need to take some photos off an old WD caviar Blue HDD. This is an old 500Gb platter drive, I'd guess 6 or so years old.

I'm confused by the data connector, as the standard SATA cable does not fit - the clip on the body of the connector fouls on the slot on the hard drive. Some blurb on the WD site says they've used a different approach:

I can't really follow what they mean, and the links to appropriate cables from their site are unsurprisingly long since dead, given age of drive.

Has anyone else seen this before, and ideally figured a way to connect to this drive - whether by bodging a SATA to try to fit or by finding a specific connector?

Any advice gratefully received

Is it that simple? I had spare SATA cable I removed the clip from, it was pretty straightforward to strip the clip but the connector still didn't fit. I'll check online for SATA cables without the clips, not sure I've ever used any before?
