So yesturday I noticed these drives were back on ocuk and now in stock, and at a reduced price to what they were on pre-order. I have been wanting some new drives for RAID 1 (OS/Apps/Games/storage) as my current 500GB seagate .9 drives are rather slow.

How much better are these WD drives than the seagate 7200.11 range? Baring in mind the 750GB is £90inc these days, thats still a £40 saving if I am buying two. Does the 32MB cache make much difference on the seagate too?

I was thinking of ordering these today but I am not sure if I should wait to see what else is around the corner?

Me either. Especially as they are £5 more than the seagate 500GB at the moment lol. Would you buy them over all other drives at the moment rpstewart? I hear they are meant to be 2x 320GB platters? So should be really quick?

well, the 320gb drives seem to be the fastest drives ever released lol. we are so close to that single drive 100mb/sec sustained average read now.

Would you buy them over all other drives at the moment rpstewart?
Certainly in the "mid size" range, yes. Obviously there's still a case for the single platter 7200.10s at the small end until the 320Gb F1s and the single platter 320Gb AAKSs become more available.
