I have just got a new machine and I am having problems with a external western Digital hard drive and windows vista.
I bought the drive when I was runnig XP and everything worked fine.
Then I upgraded the OS to Vista and the drive continued to work with no problems.
Next I have bought a new machine and I wanted to use the HD to transfer data from my old machine to my new.
I have installed the HD as I did before but there seem to be problems.
The first time I install everything is fine and I can see and use the drive the problem occurs if I reboot.
After the machine has rebooted windows can no longer see the drive and there is a warning triangle next to it in device manager.
Also if I try to reboot after this windows hangs on the Shutting Down screen.
can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
