Hi,

Just a quick question for my brother.

His external WD 250GB he just got today had some stuff on it to start with (drivers and some autorun stuff) that was put there by the manufacturer.

I just wondered if it'll be best to completely format the drive before use?

Shouldn't make a massive difference, although I formatted mine to NTFS after I had problems with FAT corrupting files if unplugged too quickly.

The disk should already be formatted as FAT, doing so again won't make a huge difference, but it won't harm either.

Formatted it anyway, something was using 270mb and WD had put some drivers and stuff on there to start with, so I think it was best off formatting :)
