WD HDD - click of death?

Over the last few weeks I've been getting what I suspect is the beginnings of HDD failure - luckily it's still under warranty but I wanted to be sure.

It seems randomly, whilst running windows, I hear the HDD click (like when you turn the system off) and I hear the HDD spin down. Sometimes the mouse is still moveable (suggesting it's definitely solely the HDD and not a general system failure) - sometimes the whole system is crashed though. Also, sometimes if I reset the BIOS will show "system boot failure, replace HDD" but then if I power off, then back on it boots fine. Sometimes it will go days without doing this and in the last couple of days I hear it click, spin down but then straight back up and it doesn't crash
I always thought you heard the "click of death" once and that was it but I've had it about 20 times!

It's jiggered, ain't it? Or is there anything else that could cause this?

It does sound like your HDD is on its way out, back up asap!!

If there was no clicking then I might suggest that some of the problems you have mentioned could be related to the power supply, dodgy molex connection or similar, but seeing as you so seem to have significant clicking aswell, id say death may be near.
