Hey all

I recently acquired an old WD My Book Pro II (circa 2006-2007). It is configured in RAID 1 or RAID 0 depending on what you choose. I took it apart and have the drive details (WD5000KS-00MNB0 manufactured 29th Nov 2006).

I also noticed how hot these drives were running (60 degrees+), they were too hot to touch after just 20 mins of use, they are also very slow even with the fastest RAID setting...so naturally I don't trust these drives to keep my time machine backups safe.

I really like the enclosure as it has firewire 800 ports which I plan to use on my Macbook Pro. I want to keep the enclosure, but replace the two old HDD's. Does anyone know if this is possible? If it is which HDDs would be best to replace the 2 old HDDs with?

dunno about that raid version but i changed the drive in the original my book no problem
and if you search on google you will see many have changed theirs without issue so you should be ok

i recommend a green 5400rpm drives tho
