WD or Seagate current 20TB + drives

Looking to add another 20TB or higher such as the WD 22TB Red Pro when available

I have been using Seagate in recent years, so I was wondering which one has better reliability at the moment?

I have always stuck to WD as they generally seem to use less power and quieter units compared to the Seagate counterparts. That said, I have a pair of EXOS 28TB drives in a UNAS-2, as I couldn't get WD's in that size.

Going off personal experience via work (Multiple DCs) and home use, I have seen more failed Seagate drives than WD.

I normally use WD but used 6TB Ironwolfs in a couple of 6-bay NAS and they were faultless. I would certainly avoid Seagate's retail range but would be happy to use Ironwolf or Exos if they were the best option for what I needed.

Think I am going to go with WD this time.

At the moment, I think it's more a case of what you can find. Stock levels are poor and only going to get worse for the next couple of years. Plus, of course, with low stocks come rising prices.

Agree. When I purchased my last 20TB I thought by the time I need another, the prices would have come down. Boy, was I wrong.
