I was just about to order two 3TB WD Red NAS HDD when I noticed there are two different types. Can anyone explain the difference between the normal Red and the Red Pro?

TIA.

Pro spins faster (5400 vs 7200?) and has longer warranty. Pro also is "certified" for use in housings with more disks.

Red pro and the enterprise class SE model seem to be practically identical, so I'd go with whichever is cheapest of the two if you wanted the faster 7200 disk. I'm running a 7 disk raid 5 server using 2TB SE's with no issues, nice, quiet and very fast. Ordinary reds should be slightly quieter and use less power.

IIRC it used to be that the standard Red drives were basically Green drives with TLER enabled and the Red Pro drives were RE drives with something disabled?
