I've got some 3TB Dell NL SAS drives in my TrueNas setup, 4 x 3TB, but TBH they're just so damn loud, so I'm looking at swapping them out for CMR WD Red or Seagate Ironwolf drives of prob similar capacity. Server has 8 bays, but only using 4 atm.

Currently in a RAIDZ2 setup, although wishing I'd gone for 2 x mirror setup for the vdev.

Any views on how loud the above disks are?

The old Red 3TBs are very quiet. I had six in my NAS and there was a bit of clunking when they were accessed but virtually no rotation noise so I'd expect the Red Plus to be the same.

I replaced the 3TB Reds with 6TB Ironwolfs (Ironwolves?) and I don't think they're any louder.

I have one iron wolf I use in a hotswap cabinet along with others, it seems lighter than others, potentially a little quieter but the one thing i have noticed is it seems very cool given that when i swap it out it's usually only been powered down a minute before. Some of the others I have (especially the WD blacks) get warmer, or a lot warmer
