will a Western Digital Caviar SE 160GB 1600JS SATA-II 8MB Cache harddrive be ok for playing games on?

or should i just go for an IDE drive?

thx for any help :)

There is no difference between SATA and IDE really because drives can only transfer data externally at up to about 60MB/s for a 7200rpm drive. The limit for IDE is 133MB/s, SATA1 150MB/s and SATA-II 300MB/s. With just one drive, you are nowhere near this so IDE or SATA makes little difference. However, often SATA drives have a few extra features like NCQ (not the WD ones) but then again NCQ is only useful for servers. One good thing about SATA though is the cabling is very tidy and there is no fiddling with master or slave jumpers.
