Pretty much every time the PC, router or the WD TV itself is rebooted it makes me select the content source again. It's starting to get on my nerves so does anyone know if there's a way to get it to stick? If i click on videos i'd like to see the videos instead of the error message and be force to choose the source again.

It's the SMP version and is just reading the shared folders on the PC's drives atm.

I've only seen this happen on my WD TV Live when my NAS is rebooted, otherwise it never fails, so guess it's because the source is being removed when the PC or router is rebooted... which I guess is to be expected?

I thought that at first and it wouldn't bother me as they are on mostly on 24/7 but i've had to reboot the WDTV frequently lately and it loses the sources then too. It's not a huge hassle or anything i'd just like them to work together instead of constantly needing my input.

Do your PC & WD TV Live have static IP's from the router, My NAS & WD TV Live always get the same IP's from my BT Home hub, so if I reboot the WD TV Live it always sees the NAS when it comes back up unless the NAS is rebooted too...

Used to get this problem on the early firmwares but its been resolved since - you using latest firmware?

Bought one today..Biggest Load Of SH** I've ever bought. One n half hours to download n install Firmware. 3 hours to try to get stuff to load up. U Tube is Rubbish on it as it takes Forever to sink,(if it ever does) Would not show my photos from my Facebook either.
Useing it via Wireless. WD downstairs, Router upstairs. My Tab connects and does everything in quick time, except this peice of rubbish. What's the secret in getting it to work...

I find it generally fast, though mine is connected via 1gb LAN rather than wireless, firmware updates takes minutes and loading files is quick, the only part that can be a little sluggish is the menu's once you have a lot to load, for example my NAS is a 3tb drive with 1.6tb used, 2300 pictures, 5002 mp3's and over 2000 videos, so it can take a moment to load the image files, you can speed that up though if you use a third party theme such as Kudos, which not only looks great compared to the default themes, but can also allow you to create your own metadata so that it does not stream it live from the internet.

yup - I agree with UKDTweak - I actually like my WDTV SMP and think its one of the best purchases I've made.

Granted there were a couple of issues getting it to work with metafile stuff when it was first launched but otherwise I'm really impressed with the fact it plays ANYTHING I can throw at it.

with the purchase of a recent smart TV the WDTV has been relegated to the dining room and its been working spot on using WIFI. I'm quite surprised that over a 2.4Ghz WIFI network it handles 1080p video VERY well indeed.

The Latest firmware update is awesome - has really speeded up the menu system and only took me a couple of minutes to upgrade to.

I suggest diagnosing further by trying a wired connection to eliminate wireless issues.

sounds like a network issue to me?

Can't be a network issue if Laptop connects and Galaxy Tab connects wireles, without a hitch. Friends going to look at it over weekend.

I see there are so many complaints about this WDTV Live that WD has recomended a Dongle. In fact, if you buy it from elswhere they be giving the dongle for free.
I took mine back and had me cash back.

Just because other wifi devices work fine does not mean there is no network issue, have you tried different Channels on your router? all my wireless kit worked fine at home but my PS3, until I changed the channel the router used for wifi.
