Anybody got experience with WD warranty? I've a 1Tb black I have to RMA as it's reported errors (thankfully it was in the RAID 1 array!). Just things like where they're based, turnaround times, ease of the whole process. Any info appreciated.

Good excuse to get an SSD regardless, just bought an m4 :)

WD, for me, have always offered the very best of support. They also have provided an advanced drive replacement service. Basically they took my CC details and then sent out a brand new replacement drive after conforming over the phone that mine was faulty. The new drive arrived and I popped the old one in the new drives packaging and stuck the provided label on the outside. Got proof of postage and that was that.
IIRC I had thirty days or so to send my old drive back.

I can't remember the address that was on the printed label as it had no relevance for me due to the above method used.

Their free call telephone support was superb and helpful and they would have been my choice for buying any future HD's. However the market as it is I have been compelled to source other makes as they become affordable.

In contrast Samsung's support was appalling.

Just to echo what Vimes said. Had to return a faulty 1Tb Caviar Black. Advanced replacement sent, old one shipped back using same packaging, no hassle and job done.

I would defintely recommend their warranty service.

ive used them before too, not the advanced rma though - just the normal one

its a very slick system, all done on the website and can track it, etc

but it took around 3 weeks to get it back
