Argh.. I just got my comp up and running 3 days ago, and ll ran just fine for a couple of days. Now I installed a second harddrive, and I did not throw around stuff but took my time and was carefull. I start up and I get an errormessage telling me windows is needing some component because a file is either corrupt or nonexistant... I go into the recovery mode, wich is DOS and I am not able to access my drive. I start up again, and now suddenly the drive is unreadable.. I think:"what the heck, lets reformat" And now it has taken an hour to format 7%!!!!

I guess I have not been carefull enough, or did a virus sneak in and corrupt everything?

Aah well, Guess I just have to wait and see. Now I at least vented a bit. Maybe I´ll be back in 10 hours time complaining more :(

Hiya,
If you chose the full format mode, an hour for 7% is a little long, but not yet terminal.
When you get the drive running again, run the WD diagnostic stuff on it, as TBH the PC suddenly not recognising it is more likely to be the drive than a virus.

Yeah, fearing it might be the drive. It is now at 20%. What might be the cause of this? In my little knowledge of hardisk I would expect some minor parts to maybe be scratched and then format would just discount those areas or the drive would just plain fail, not become super slow. Or maybe I am just being impatient not remembering how long it took the first time i formatted?
