WD3200AAJS sometimes loads only

(was main hd) .. Recognised in bios every time, but will only boot up every so often.

I have used the chkdsk command and errors were fixed, but this changed nothing really, so any ideas on what I should do other than buy another hd?

Been using Hiren's boot cd and Ultimate biit cd for and repairs so far.

I should point out that once the HD is working, it will continue to do so until it is shut down, crashes, etc ...

Sounds like a dud drive or file system. Use WD lifeguard or Seatools (works for any make) to test.
