Am I right in thinking this will be as quick as the Samsung F1 320GB drive?

I'm about to order one of the 620GB drives for storage and I need a new apps/OS drive but I can't find the Samsung anywhere.

No it's not.

The AAKB is the IDE version of the AAKS SATA line. At the moment there are allegedly some single platter 320Gb AAKS drives filtering through but unless you can get the whole model number off the retailer it's your donald duck whether you get a single or twin platter version.

There have been no such rumours on the IDE side so it's fair to assume any 320Gb AAKBs are twin platter drives.

Slackworth is the guy you need to talk to really. Without actually reading the label on the drive itself you can't tell the difference between a single platter 3200AAKS and a twin platter one.
