We are giving away 3 HyperX 240GB Savage SSDs! (Reviewing Competition)

Damn good review Captain,
I've taken some pictures (yours make mine look balls)
I did an unboxing on my stream (first time so it's equally ballsHere)

Going to do a write up soon, you really said it all haha,
I'll do some benches too, to confirm your results, but you are outclassing me here man :p

ok folks - 1st of a huge thanks to OcUK for the SSD. A I previously stated I had hoped to have my hands on a more up to date system to run the review and bench the drive on - unfortunately that's not to be. I am planning a new build shortly but rather than delay the review I thought best to give it a whirl on my current system.

for reference it is as follows

cpu: i5 750
mobo: Gigabyte P55A-UD6 (which has the god awful marvel sata3 controller)

so for the purposes of this review I've had to bench on Sata2 :(

some piccies first..... (excuse the photo quality and the dirt on the mouse mat - it was sugar from the haribo!)

mucho yum yum with the haribo

moving on to mounting the SSD

in the end up decided against mounting the case tray and mounted directly to the pc chassis

Sooooo onto the numbers.....

CrystalDiskMark Scores

not the blistering speeds you'd see on Sata3 but I believe for all intents and purposes it is saturating the Sata2 connecting

and some more....

Ok, so my older tech was never going to show the top speeds you can get from the drive, but then I had a thought.....

Bechmarks are all well and good, but to me they are just a bunch of numbers and I'm guessing that's the same for most folk. So I've run together a quick video of load times on the game World of Warships which feels like it takes for ever to load for me from my mech drive.

I loaded a new copy onto the SSD and ran them separately to see load time comparison

Maybe not the most fair of tests but you get the idea.

Also, as you can guess Windows load up times also all but vanished. To give you an idea, previously I would turn on the Pc, type in my password and go for a smoke!! that's how long it usually takes me to get to a functional desktop.....Not anymore!

So not only is the SSD faster to load a Desktop......it's better for your (my) health. 1 less ciggy to smoke in a day!!

What did I think of the Drive....

Lovely to be honest (and not just because it was free!)
It comes well boxed and well presented.
It has a solid, sturdy feel to it
I love the almost brushed aluminium effect (maybe it is?!) on the top
If you have complimentary internal case lighting this thing looks cool as can be in there

All in all when I'm back in the market for another SSD i'll definitely be taking a look at these again

Once again a big thanks to OcUK and 5UB for the competition and apologies for what ended up a slightly rushed review

Sorry about the delay,
my Son's going to school for the first time and it's been a bit of a busy week

Firstly Thank you to OCUK for sending me this drive :D

First time unboxing, thought it'd be worth a go:
First impressions of the Drive are that the packaging just oozes quality; from just sliding the cardboard cover off you know you've got a premium product.

Taking the drive from it's foam protection lets you feel the weight and build quality. It's one solid feeling drive, I've had others that have felt flimsy but this is a nice lump of metal to get your hands on.

The drive comes with a full suite of accessories, everything you'd need to mount it and scream to the world "Look at how fast I can load stuff!!"
It also comes with a great 3 year warranty and a key for 'Acronis True image'.
Can't forget the lovely HyperX sticker for your tower.

I already have an SSD for my OS so this drives been put in replacing the Games drive.
The old Drive was a Wester Digital VelociRaptor and As you can see from these Benches, the improvements have been astounding:

New HyperX SSD:

Game loads are now near non-existent, which has left me waiting on other players loading almost every online game :D
Deviantly a must have for single player games, barely enough time to sit down before games are ready to go.

Comparing the HyperX to my OS Drive, A Samsung 840 Evo, The HyperX leaves the Samsung behind in all but 2 categories:

Wrapping up this HyperX drive really is a top end product and deserves a place in any Pc, with a quality feel, great performance and a full suite of accessories it gets my recommendation and I would deviantly look to get it a friend in the future.
