we got burgled!

Yep, I got plenty near me :D

Mainly being my 5 iron golf club, cricket bat and air rifle (with scope) so I can sit at the top of the stairs and blow them away when they appear :D

Thats crazy man.

About a year ago I was sitting downstairs watching tv at 2am, I heard a funny noise at the door, the kinda noise you hear when the postmans there... I went to investigate and saw somebody standing in my porch, and the porch door was definetly shut and locked before he came in, I perhaps rather foolishly opened the main door and asked if I could help him, he then looked at me for a few seconds as if weighing up his options, turned, and casually walked away.

Unbelieavable, and you just let him walk out even though you had no idea who he was? I would have tackled him to the ground and stomped on his face a few times for good measure, then call the police.

Yeah, sure you would.

Sorry to hear that mate glad your ok, I wouldnt recommend doing the below though!

There was one over the road from me the otherday only he/they weren't so lucky.

Theres a alley way that runs down the side of the houses and one across the back so you can have access to the backs but is rather secluded. Anyway some one had seen a guy jump over the fence to one of the houses, so he went and knocked on a neighbours door to imform him. Anyway im not to sure of the details exactly, but i believe the neighbour then climbed over the neighbouring walls till he found the actual house that the intruder had chosen(as its hard to work out which one was being done from the back if u see what i mean).

Anyhoo apparently the bloke had forced/broken a conservatory door open and was in the house. neighbour ran in after him burglar tried getting out the front door made it to the street and was promptly caught by said neighbour with some sort of rugby tackle and was held until police arrived!!!!

What ever way it happened hes a here in our road atm!

Home Alone can give a few pointers in defending your home. :p

seriously tho it just shows how easy it must be, you walk in confidently, create a lot of confusion, steal something and before they can figure out whats happened your away with something.

If you look at hidden camera shows n the like you can see that very few people will take the most logical course of action when they see someone steal usually due to fear and confusion. Most just sit and watch and wonder why isnt someone doing something?

How come you leave your front door unlocked?

It shouldnt have been, its got a yale latch thats supposed to lock when the door closes but it didnt as the door needs to be slammed shut. Im guessing one of my housemates didnt slam it. Before this I always checked and locked it and did so after other people many times.

Unfortunatly I have already had to lock it properly after people already, some people just wont learn no matter how many times you tell them.

Wow quite shocking, did he seem high/drunk? How old did he look, if he was pretty young maybe it was a cheap dare. Is there a Stuart in your house

He didnt seem it although he kept his face hidden so its hard to say. He was in his mid 20's Id say. No Stuart in our house and by the way he was so casual and calm Id say he has done it many times before.

i assume this is in the hyde park area? not good considering im moving into a studen house there on friday.

No it wasnt in Hyde Park its in the Stanmores in Burley right near Headingley Stadium.

We lived in the same area just a few streets away last year and had no problems at all. Make sure you keep all doors and windows locked and valubles out of sight from the window and you should be fine.

Must have been about 21, or maybe 20. Thing was I didnt think about what I was doing too much, I was half expecting to see someone I knew even tho everyone was in the house and I wasnt expecting anyone :p

When my mam and dad were at college way back their flat in Nottingham had a busted lock on the front door. They were all lying stoned and hammered on the floor and this tramp walks in and starts making himself sandwiches and cups of tea and sods off.

lmao
If that happened to me, I wouldnt open the door, I would probably call my dad (I'm 18) and he would go out the back door, go round the front and hit him with a golf club or something lol
