I assume because it adds high street presence, without much actual overhead vs opening another shop and having more staff. Game absorb most of the running costs, but get another platform to push (and the associated steam wallet top ups and EA origin credits).

From a hardware point of view (e.g. graphics cards etc), it's not like there is much competition on the high street - so even if prices are slightly more expensive than OcUK's web prices, the option to pop into a shop and pick something up there and then is surely a benefit.

Not sure if serious, because I can't think of another that has such a national high street presence
 
There are no real UK wide high street gaming retailers anymore.

From what I understood (pretty sure I read it that way on the previous Game/OcUK thread) is that OcUK are renting the floor space basically and so all the prices, stock etc is all from them anyways so no different to being on the website, just that you can go see PC stuff locally and them supplying some stock to stores.

Most of it is a mail order service from OcUK though with basically a collection point rather than home delivery.

Pretty much a win win and it may be that Game are also wanting to change their image considering how well PC gaming is going.
