Weak demand leads Apple to halve iPhone 5 component orders

No, they remind me very much of VW, especially the Golf car.

Both apple & VW have this perceived level of quality which is not accurate. The Ford Focus for instance is more reliable & far nicer to drive than a Golf, the golf is more expensive & inferior yet the blind sheep that buy them are convinced that they are getting a 'better' product.

All down to good marketing, which is what apple is mostly about i.e. giving people products with an obvious visual statement which supposedly means they have an above average lifestyle.

I have an iPhone and very much in the view that Android (or, if you like, Windows Phone 7/8 or BB) is not the be all and end all that so many claim it to be. That isn't to say iOS doesn't have its flaws, of course it does, but it is by far the most polished platform with the biggest ecosystem.

I also think Golfs are immensely overrated and think the Ford Focus is a much better product, so what does that make me? :p

Samsung have seriously pushed themselves into top position in practically everything recently, that massive R&D department they have is paying off.

They have practically killed the image of Sony (though most of that is because Japan isnt doing so good) and are currently seen as a worthy opponent to the iPhone.

Pull the other one

Oh I think Jobs was a arrogant control freak and I think that the 'reality bubble' surrounding their products is quite rightly starting to burst but as a company I have no care whether they exist or not. That they're here is a good thing, they've created three market segments that I subscribe to - MP3 music, Tablet computing and a usable smart phone but other than my now ancient iPod which I use with Media Monkey I don't use Apple and I don't believe that my life would be any less gadget fulfilled otherwise. They also fulfill a need for competition which keeps the market alive (despite them attempting to litigate their way into beating their competitors).

Essentially I have no investment in Apple so I couldn't care a less if their stock price goes up or down.
