Was just having a debate with people at work about this question, wondered what your answer would be:

If you were given an endless supply of money, do you think you would die a happier person?

depends on your current situation now

if you're struggling with debt or don't like your current job but can't afford to quit then of course....

if you're already comfortable enough and have more money than you need to do the things you personally want to do then it may well make no difference

I would have died having a more diverse experience of what the world has to offer, yes. So whilst my core happiness might be unaffected (typically provided for by relationships with friends, family and partners), I could certainly say that I could spend more time doing fun or enjoyable things or experiences, such as scuba diving, mountain climbing, travelling... etc

So yes, I would be happier.

Yes without a shadow of a doubt.

You would have no financial worries which is what stresses people out more then anything.

I'd say yes as an instant reaction. However, thinking about it, money could just lead you to a much worse and horrible life. Getting robbed, attacked, hated, victimised etc, etc. I'd like to die moderately wealthy.

Yes.

Sure, money isn't happiness, but money gives you the freedom to see the world, meet new people, do new things. You'd feel financially secure too, so there would be no pressure to work to make ends meet, you just do exactly what you want where you want. For me, that sort of freedom would make me very happy till the end of days.

he said wealth not wealth and fame no one would be attacking and you wouldnt be hated unless you were a show off smug git.

for me wealth would make me happier than i am now.

Dunno really.

Happy with my life as it is, although of course it would greatly enable, or bring forward the possibilities of realising many of the things I'd like to do, it's not like being unable to do them makes me unhappy, so it's difficult to see how having money would 'make me happier' when there's nothing making me unhappy anyway.

Probably not, money doesn't bring happiness. It can facilitate it sometimes, but it can also cause you to make some really bad choices as well...

As above.

I was thinking about this when the £500,000 to kill a random person thread was around. If it turned out the random person was me in a year from now would I be happy. My thinking at the time being yeah you die, but you leave £500,000 to your kids. In balance I would not be happy.

I think somewhere between £500,000 and an infinite supply of money I would be able to die happy knowing that others would benefit from it.

Or something.

Happiness = inner happiness + outer happiness.

So yes.

Money can't buy inner happiness but it can buy every luxury on earth.
