How much time do you get on the weba nd walk with vodafone. If i was to get a phone with this, ive been told by otehrs that im limited to 1 gig a month, that seems very small amount as UNLIMITED is brazenly advertised all over it.

any thoughts?

1GB on a phone is quite a lot.

All packages, whether home internet, internet-dongle or mobile internet are subject to fair use policies.
 
dude, unlimited on orange is only 250mb!!!!!! unlimited on vodafone is 500mb, unlimited on t-mobile is 1gb, and i'm not sure about o2 but i've heard its 1gb.

they had a feature on just this issue a couple of weeks ago on the gadget show, the presenter made your exact point- how can it be called unlimited if it has a limit??? the bosses of the various companies all evaded the question as you would expect!! i think it sucks tbh.

For 95% of people, 1GB is as good as unlimited.

There needs to be a limit otherwise a minority of users would abuse the system and degrade the service for everyone else.

Yep.

But it's still false advertising to say that it's unlimited when it's not, regardless of how much small print you use.
 
1gig of use a month is not a lot.... according tot he guy in the shop its about 650 emails, in my job i can get that amount in less than 10 days! include web broswing and things like vpn systems, im going way WAY over that. think i worked out id need about 5 gig a month... which is what i thought unlimited would give me, being it says unlimited...

cheers all, at least i know im not going mad and understand its not worth it yet.

1GB is NOT 650 emails, unless each email is 1.5MB in size.

1Gb is 650 e-mails? As if. You could quite easily get 650 e-mails into 1Mb depending on the length and content.
 
Only going off what the guy in the shop was saying, it did seem a little low and the amount of emails.

How much will say playing warhammer take, a online game i asked him, he didnt know, im not sure, but i rekon 1 hour a night, 4 nights a week, plus web browsing, emails, is going to be more than 1gig a month.

Guess i am still waiting for technology to catch up with what i want to happen lol.
 
Warhammer Online uses ~600 bytes/s of downstream bandwidth so for one hour of play four days a week thats ~1.1Mb a week, lets say 5Mb/month at most.

When your not downloading pr0n, streaming video or leeching torrents, 1Gb is a lot to use for general web browsing and email. The average email is ~8kb in size which would be ~120k emails in 1Gb... Thats a lot of email!

sounding to me the 1gig for £5/month isnt a bad deal really, might look into this a bit more...

I'm thinking people with Nokia phones and the 'comes with music' thing might be having a problem with these download limits...no point having free unlimited access to music if you can only download a certain amount each month!

I'm guess the music downloads aren't included, for that very reason.

You download the music on your computer and transfer it over. The 5310 doesn't even have access to the music store on the phone itself so you *have* to use your computer if you have that phone.
