Don't think the extra is worth the £30, the basic one is excellent, wait for B&Q 20% off weekends and then grab one

You will kick yourself for not having a thermoeter.
The reason throes good deals, is they are now discontinued lines and. There's a new range out.

If you just use charcoal, there really is very little difference in comparison to gas.
White oak logs with some pecan shells soaked in cider thrown on however = major flavour improvement.

Yawn at the macho "Don't bother with a gas bbq, just use an oven" bull****

A domestic oven is nothing like a gas barbecue grill. I don't know about you lot but my oven can't chargrill food. Perhaps you're not sure how a gas grill works so I'll educate you :p
The flames from the gas burner heat up the metal grill. Also, fat drips from the meat and causes flames to flare up (just like in a charcoal barbecue) and char the meat.

I love to use my charcoal barbecue but, for sheer convenience, the gas barbecue is fantastic. If I'm just doing a steak for myself (like I will be tonight), I'm not going to go to the trouble and expense of lighting the charcoal barbecue for 1 item that will be cooked in less than 5 minutes. I'll light up the gas barbecue, let it heat up the bars, bung the steak on, cook for a couple of minutes each side, whip it off the grill and switch it off. Job done.

In that case, why not just use a griddle or frying pan?

Aside from the fact that you get to go outside to cook, even with your justification I can't see there being that much difference between the griddling/frying/oven method and a gas bbq. Obviously the convenience is great though, and for a large outside outing it's a reasonable way to cook. There's clearly going to be a big difference in flavour between a gas bbq and a non-gas bbq though.

^Because you don't get liquid fat dripping onto the flame and burning, sending flavours back into the meat. About time i got a bbq, mine is makeshift, paving sab for the coals and a wire supermarket basket over it for the grill.
