hi

is it possible to run a usb webcam over 60metres of rj45 to a pc to use as a home cctv cheap setup.

It would be a the webcam into a dongle sort of thing usb to rj45 then the 60 metres, then the signal converted into usb back from the rj45 to the pc.

cheers

If you are using USB <-> CAT5/6 converters then there is no reason why, subject to the converters allowing that length Cat5/6, this wouldn't work.

If the converters supply the standard CAT5 signal range/voltage, then it should be good up to about 90m - but have you looked at native CAT5 cameras? Pricier, but a much, much nicer solution IME.
