i had a 10 quid inc postage webcam from the bay with the 6/8 led's on and it died, is there any point in buying an expencive one just for msn (i talk to my kids on there) is the quality so much better or is a cheap one just as good?

depends on what you call expensive, i had a creative webcam instant and that cost about 20-25 quid and there was no quality improvement compared to a 4 or 5 quid camera my borther bought online with LED's.
but then i have bought the vx6000 from microsoft and the quality is just amazing! wow! and the viewing angle is a lot more too!
