FortiGuard Web Filtering,

It's so annoying, I'm stuck in work and can't get on any decent websites anymore because of this stupid blocker system.

Violation catagory; Games etc etc.

Oh ebay still works, do you know why, because the managers are big ebay traders.

Imagine the managers are in a relatively unrestricted group if the web filtering for companies we support at work is anything to go by

Set up a vpn or proxy on your home pc.

Firefox + Proxy

Install OpenSSL / ssdh on your home machine (preferably *nix).
Run Putty, choose SSH, [your home IP], Tunnelling Auto, random port.
Set Firefox's Network to have a SOCKS5 proxy of 'localhost'.
???
Profit!

If you can't use a home machine, use your web host (which is what I usually do).

Or, get some work done.

What like? Nothing needs doing.

Their is a facilicty (a little option on the blocker) to have websites assessed for accessability, thats a bit like hanging yourself though.

I'll have a look into some of the suggestions about using that firefox option thing. Has anybody else worked around this?

I've used ssh and putty to get around a webfilter. Mind you, I was one of the IT admins, so I was rather less concerned about getting caught.

We had a baby and I needed a job that was going to pay more money more quickly than working my way up from doing IT support in a school.

You find a job to do that in or was it back to school yourself?
